:30, september 14th. welcome jennifer hill to the bay area. she has a look at the forecast. >> good morning, everybody. it was a little cold yesterday and will be a little bit warmer today. low clouds will burn off earlier than they did yesterday. we are looking at the 8:00 a.m. forecast. 56 in livermore and 54 in fairfield. patchy fog in the forecast in the morning hours. as we get into the noon hour, 73 degrees in concord and clearing happening along the way itself. happening earlier than yesterday and temperatures will be warmer. as we head towards 4:00, temperatures near 80. cool in the evening and back into the 70s for fairfield. 75 degrees for napa and 75 for san jose. we will see some clouds towards the specific, but clearing towards san francisco and santa cruz will see 67 for a high. i know it's my first day, but talking about rain. we are looking at showers on friday. the north bay and possibly getting as far south as san mateo and it's for the weekend. not my fault! >> happy first day. mike? >> hardly my first day, but i won't talk about rain. we will leave it to jennifer. we are

:01. we want to check in with jennifer hill and take a look at still a pretty warm day but we're headed to the cooler section now. >> yes, finally we're sliding down and getting some cooler air coming into the region. also some reports of low clouds. yes, some clouds are back and high clouds down around santa cruz. 69 degrees the forecast temperature in oakland, 75 in santa rosa. 83 in fairfield. instead of the 90s happening at noon, they'll happen at 4:00. 94 in livermore, 80 in san rafael. san francisco getting the cooldown early with a 68-degree temperature and 75 in santa cruz. coming up we'll take a look at the weekend outlook. >> that's a pretty big change temperaturewise. we have a change on the roadway not quite so significant but a rolling traffic break starting around the coliseum heading up through downtown and ending by about 23rd, maybe up towards broadway because they're picking up cone zones on the northbound side. southbound side construction likely to pick up the next half hour or so. a live look at the bay bridge. light volume and no problems. a clear view here but as

home owners jittery about some potential scams. jennifer mistrot about how neighbors can make sure that contractors spotted in the area are supposed to be there. >>> reporter: the residents of this san bruno neighborhood evacuated after last week's gas explosion are back in their homes. they have been greeted by signs, warning about contractor fraud. >> you know, when they first approached me, i was a little leary because they were anxious to get in and started cleaning. >> reporter: he lives near the blast site. he thinks his house sustained minimal damage. but inside reeks of smoke so everything needs to be washed from the walls right down to the dishes in his kitchen cupboard. it's a big job. >> i'm sort of consistently asking the policemen, hey, what are the rules and regulations of letting people in? because they are not letting a lot of people in. so since these restoration and cleaning folks have been let in, does that mean they're on the up and up? >> i was in the neighborhood today and -- >> reporter: pg&e wants to make sure all contractors working to restore this neighbor

were revealing and sgushing. the latest testimony about the murder of jennifer, michaela and hayly petit paints the picture of a simply robbery having gone one. wednesday a detective gave a gripping account by defendant steven hayes who recounts how things, quote, got quickly out of control. >> this is very powerful testimony because these are the words of the defendant himself as to the savagery that these two imposed on this family. >> reporter: hayes told police his accomplice joshua komisarjevsky entered the petit home through an unlocked door and beat william petit with a baseball bat. petit, the only survivor spoke outside court. >> this is a painful day for the hawke and petit families and i think everybody saw that. >> reporter: the explanation of the rapes that was most chilling. hayes says he escorted jennifer hawke-petit to the bank where she withdrew $15 nouz and when they returned ckomisarjevsky ha already assaulted michaela. the mother was later strangled to death. >> hayes is trying to point to his co-defendant saying he was the bad guy, the worst one. >> reporter: j
